Wild camping and responsible travel

Wild camping in Europe and how to travel responsibly

Wild camping rules are different in every European country. In some places it is allowed under certain conditions. In others it is restricted or not allowed.

Campscout does not promote illegal camping. The goal is to share real locations in a responsible way and help travelers make informed decisions before they arrive.

Always check local rules. Respect nature. Leave no trace.

How it started

The journey

Campscout didn’t appear overnight. It took years of ideas, experiments and letting things go before it felt right.

The idea

The idea started during trips through Scandinavia. Driving into nature, following roads on the map, without really knowing what was at the end. Sometimes it worked. Often it didn’t.

Trying things out

The idea stayed, but the shape kept changing. Different directions were explored, including two web apps. Useful experiments that helped clarify one thing: this experience didn’t belong behind a laptop.

Mobile app

The focus shifted fully to a mobile app. Campscout is now built for being on the road, sharing real locations and experiences, and knowing what you’re heading into before you arrive.
